ISC manages and delivers the Australian red meat industry’s three key on-farm assurance and through-chain traceability programs:
The LPA program is the Australian industry’s on-farm assurance program. It provides evidence of livestock history and on-farm practices when transferring livestock through the value chain. The LPA National Vendor Declaration (LPA NVD) is the declaration communicating the food safety status of every animal as it moves through the supply chain.
The NVD communicates the food safety status of every animal every time it moves along the value chain – between properties, to saleyards, or to processors. Producers can use paper NVDs or the new mobile-friendly eNVD system.
NLIS is Australia’s system for the identification and traceability of cattle, sheep and goats. The NLIS combines three elements to enable the lifetime traceability of animals:
ISC is also responsible for the development and delivery of the Digital Value Chain Strategy which will ensure the Australian red meat industry can make better use of existing and new data. The strategy will deliver improved feedback systems for producers including Livestock Data Link (LDL).
The new LPA eNVD is replacing the existing eDEC. eDEC users who have eDEC tokens on their account can use them up until 31 December 2020.
To comply with the requirements of safe animal feed, livestock owners must file Commodity Vendor Declarations (CVD) that accompany all introduced stock feeds.
Animals leaving a property (PIC) must be identified with an NLIS accredited device before moving, unless a permit is obtained from the state or territory authority.
Livestock Data Link (LDL) is an online program that enables the timely sharing of carcase and animal disease information between processors and their producers.
